FAQ’s - Choosing Blinds With Brax

Choosing blinds with Brax is a straightforward process, but we understand that you may have many questions about the process. Here are some frequently asked questions. If we cannot answer your question here, please contact us at the Brax showroom in South Geelong, or via email.

Does Brax offer free quotes?

Yes, we certainly do – we offer an obligation free in-home consultation, where one of our trained, experienced Brax staff can advise on the best options to suit your needs and your budget. They will visit your home equipped with samples and will measure your space as part of the quote.

Are the blinds and curtains made to size?

Yes all of our blinds and curtains are custom made to your window size. Our fully trained and experienced staff will visit your home to advise you on the best solution for your windows. Contact our team for more information.

Where are my blinds made?

Depending on what you have chosen – many of our products are manufactured in our South Geelong factory, or sourced from other reputable Australian suppliers.
We do have a range of products that are fully imported – such as our Soft Shades and our Plantation Shutters

How long will they take once I place my order?

As all of our products are custom made, to suit our individual customers, we recommend you allow around 3 - 4 weeks for manufacture and installation. We always endeavour to keep our waiting times to a minimum, however at certain peak times of year, such as Christmas or Summer, you may have to wait a little longer.

If you have ordered any of our imported range, such as our Plantation Shutters, you need to allow longer as these products come in from overseas.

How much light does a block out blind really block?

It does depend on the style of blind chosen, and how the blind is installed. If you have selected a block out fabric it will not allow any light or UV to penetrate, however you may get some light gap around the sides or the top of the blind. It is something best discussed with our consultants, as every home we visit is different.

What is the best way to reduce the amount of heat entering my home?

Something fitted externally, such as an external awning is the most efficient form of sun protection – preventing sun from hitting the glass, and therefore reducing the amount of radiant heat entering your home (or office). External awnings can prevent up to 75% of heat gain in Summer – which can mean significant savings on your cooling costs.
